What gives out first on a house in Lancaster County
Walk a house in Lititz with Dan Messimer and the same few things come up. The walls that take the afternoon sun fade first. Hallways and stair walls pick up scuffs from years of hands, backpacks and furniture. And some colors are simply dated, the kind a new owner looks at on the first day and wants gone.
Linda Roser bought a home where, in her words, “nearly the entire house interior was painted Salmon by the previous owners.” Closets and ceilings included. That is what a residential repaint is for: nothing was broken, it was a color she could not live with.
Fading and wear are the other triggers. If you are weighing a repaint anywhere in the county, call (717) 740-1000 and Dan will come look at the rooms in person before any number goes on paper.
How the crew works through a whole house
It starts with a walk-through. Dan looks at every room, tells you what each surface needs, and the estimate is free. Once the job is booked, floors and furniture get covered, damaged spots are repaired and primed, and the walls get a second coat wherever one coat will not do.
Rick Lynch wanted his sunroom refreshed and got a plan he could hold Dan to. He wrote: “He promised a start and completion date. To our great satisfaction, he kept all of his promises”, and he was amazed at the results.
Richard Towne, who then lived two hours away in New Jersey, handed Dan a key and color swatches for a house in East Petersburg. He reported that Dan “gave all of the walls two coats of paint, the job was neat as can be and there wasn't a drop of spilled paint to be found anywhere.”
Aftercare, and when to call Dan again
When the last coat is on, ask Dan to leave a labeled can of touch-up paint for each room. Scuffs from moving day are the usual first call after a repaint, and a small fix with the right can is quick.
Call again when a sun-side wall starts to fade, when a room changes use, or when you are getting a house ready to sell. Customers do. Laurie Ann Stemplinger wrote, “Second job completed for us by Veterans Pro Painters and again they have done a fantastic job for us.” Linda Roser, after six rooms, put it this way: “We know where to go, if we need more help.”
Dan takes calls at (717) 740-1000, Monday to Saturday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.
